Alex Thomas is an experienced journalist focused on creating engaging content across multiple platforms.
He currently serves as the Washington Correspondent for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in Washington, D.C., in which his primary work involves covering the Natural State's congressional delegation. During his time with the news organization, Alex has fostered relationships with federal lawmakers representing multiple states and political affiliations, as well as policy experts nationwide.
Alex previously produced "Arkies in the Beltway," the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s weekly podcast covering the intersection between national political discussions and issues facing Arkansans. The podcast ran from September 2023 through December 2025.
Before joining the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Alex served as anchor and reporter for West Virginia MetroNews in Charleston, West Virginia, and played an instrumental role in expanding the news organization's political news coverage.
Alex is a proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied journalism, political science and education. He is also an Eagle Scout.
